Fall Pre-Season Training

Fall Training For Junior & Senior High Athletes

This training offering is for athletes who want to put in a good base for the indoor season so you can literally hit the ground running this indoor season.  This program will resemble fall training you would be put through for most collegiate pre-indoor programs.  We are going to concentrate on conditioning to prepare the 400, 200, 100 and 60 meter athletes. On the field event side, we will have primarily long jumpers and high jumpers.  For the jumpers there will be some cross training with the sprinters that involves general conditioning and even some direction in sprint technique since many jumpers are also in sprint or hurdle events. Once the conditioning phase advances, the jumpers will do more jump specific drills and plyometrics to increase leg strength and the proper use of the arms to increase jumping ability.  For the sprinters, there will be longer 600 meter intervals off the track on grass and other park environments.  Some of the 800 and 1500 meter runners have told us they want to work with us and we will be customizing workouts for them as well.  We will not be doing specific field event work of any type except some block work and maybe some hurdles.  Any field work instruction will fall under hourly rates (for athletes I never worked with on the fundamentals of an event) and be done on separate days, but not until very late November or December.

Start Dates & Costs

October 20th to December 20th
At Hines Park, Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Cost: $135.00 per athlete

Prices are for fall training only. Indoor track season From January 5th to March will be a separate fee.)

Training is through December, outdoors in cold weather conditions.  We will have some indoor opportunities in December.

Putting in a base like this to get ready for the indoor season will transform your indoor season from any you have experienced in the past. This additional training will prevent injury, increase conditioning beyond what you have experienced in any other pre-season training.

Multi-events training,
Decathlon & Heptathon

This indoor season we will have several area athletes competing in the hepthatlon and decathlon.  For the boys the indoor event is the heptathlon and the events are contested are different than an outdoor decathlon, usually you don't pole vault or run the 1500 meters, usually just the 800 or 1000 meters for example.

We have SEVERAL talented male and female athletes in our group who want to train and learn the events.  The instruction for the various events will not start until January of this year, but regardless of the age group, if you are considering doing the decathlon or heptathlon you should seriously consider training with the 11th and 12th grade kids in our Fall Pre-Season group you see at the left.  I recommend only 8th grade and above consider this for the boys and 9th grade and above for the girls unless you are female who already has considerable skills in the hurdles, high jump and long jump AND you have the basics of good sprinting technique down.

If you are considering doing the January training with us., you WILL have to take classes in the various events first in each event.  Those classes are $125.00 for team members for 2-3 sessions in each of the following: High Jump, Long Jump, Shot put, and Hurdles.  If you have already worked with me (Gary) in these events, there is no charge for the events you have already received instruction on.

Indoor Meet schedule
Below are some of the dates for indoor meets.  Please note we will not be running every meet.  We don't plan on having field event athletes compete in the December meets in their specialty.
